Reviving a mid-century home

By: Connor

Our clients were looking to overhaul this architecturally designed 1950s home with the objectives of brightening it while making it cozy and comfortable. While keeping the architectural proportions, we wanted to dramatically improve the energy efficiency and update the home for a busy, modern family. We achieved this by stripping back most of the interior, adding spray foam insulation, exposing wood beams, and refinishing hardwood floors. We added heated floors in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms. We updated all of the electrical and plumbing. We added an in-home gym area, moved glass doors and windows to places where they fit better, and replaced floor to ceiling windows. We removed a poorly installed addition, and created a large wrap around deck off the front and side of the home. We installed CanExcel siding and painted the old blue bricks a bright and clean white. We even tackled the separate garage, fencing and landscaping! We really transformed this home over the course of 2022, and the clients are thrilled with the result.
